Blending Art Nouveau With Folk Tradition
The Problem
Red Bear Bakery came to us as a new business looking for branding that would stand out. They wanted something rooted in traditional design with Art Nouveau influences and native plant elements. The goal was to create a brand that felt elevated and refined while still carrying a touch of folk charm.
The Process
We worked closely with our client to determine her ideal customer base and the values she wanted the brand to convey. Our focus was to blend different artistic influences in a way
that felt cohesive while leaning into a charming “local bread witch” aesthetic. This vision guided our creative direction.
The Color Palette
This color palette reflects grounding, warmth, and resilience. The deep navy and forest green tones convey stability and trust, while the muted neutrals create a sense of calm and balance. Earthy rust and golden ochre accents add warmth and vitality. Together, these
colors create a welcoming, nature-inspired identity that feels compassionate, steady, and deeply supportive.
The Meaning Behind the Brand
The branding combines an Art Nouveau-inspired frame with an indigenous block-print-style bear, balancing sophistication with tradition. The typography also draws inspiration from the Art Nouveau movement and complements the decorative framing. We designed three supporting icons featuring bakery favorites inspired by the menu: sandwich bread, dinner rolls, and sweets such as cinnamon rolls (which are also extremely delicious!). Each icon includes its own unique frame while remaining connected to the primary logo. Together, these elements create a visual identity that feels rooted in craftsmanship, storytelling, and a touch of old-world charm.
The Solution
Through close collaboration, we developed a distinctive brand that embodies tradition, craftsmanship, and community. The blend of artistic influences creates an identity that feels both elegant and approachable.
